Art

• Greensburg Hempfield Area Library, 237 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Greensburg, will host a free exhibit of the works of artists group The Social Butterflies July 26 through Aug. 28. The group of seven local women will display more than 20 works in a variety of mediums. A free opening reception will be from 5 to 7 p.m. July 26. Details:ghal.org.

Church News

• Level Green Presbyterian Church will host its annual Ice Cream Sunday at 10 a.m. July 28 at the church, 105 Olive Drive, Trafford. The theme will be “Caring for the Kids in Our Community” and will honor and bring awareness to those who work every day helping children. A free ice cream sundae buffet will be on the church lawn. Local first responders and therapy dog teams will be in attendance and there will be face painting and children’s crafts. Bring a new teddy bear for donation to the Blackburn Center and to comfort children during traumatic situations. Festivals

• The St. Pius X Parish Festival will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. July 28 at Summit and Silver streets in Mt. Pleasant. There will be food including the famous parish pizza, games of chance, raffles, bingo, basket auction, children’s games and more. Entertainment will be by DJ Big Basel Productions from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., and 5 to 6 p.m. Additional entertainment will include Rodger and Bill Acoustic from 1 to 2:30 p.m.; the Johnstown Button Box Band from 3:30 to 5 p.m. and Murphy’s Law from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

Fundraisers

• Latrobe Area Hospital Aid Society will sponsor a golf outing fundraiser Aug. 17 at Glengarry Golf Links, 168 Lentz Road, Unity. Check-in is at 7 a.m. and the shotgun start will be at 8 a.m. Cost: $95, includes cart, small ball of range balls, snacks and lunch. There will be team prizes, skill games, raffles and a corn hole challenge. Sponsorship opportunities are available. • A Christmas in July vendor and craft show will be from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 27 at First Presbyterian Church, 501 Fayette Ave., Rostraver. Details:724-929-7616.

• Jeannette Redevelopment Authority will sponsor a flea market from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 28 in the Magee parking lot in Jeannette. Cost: $10 per space; food trucks and vendors, $40, payable at the gate.

History

• Historic Hanna’s Town, 809 Forbes Trail Road, Hempfield, will present a World War II weekend encampment and reenactment from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 27 and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 28. Cost: $12: age 6 to 17, $6; 5 and younger, free; family pass, $30 is good for both days. Usual discounts do not apply, and only cash will be accepted. There will be living history demonstrations and presentations.

• Baltzer Meyer Historical Society will host a program about the history of the Marine Corps from 1 to 3 p.m. July 27 at the center, 642 Baltzer Meyer Pike, Hempfield. Retired Marine Corps First Sergeant Rob Maxson will be the speaker.

Meetings

• Mt. Pleasant American Legion Auxiliary will install officers at 6 p.m. Aug. 6 at the post, 752 W. Main St. There will be no business meeting.

Shopping Event

• Mt. Pleasant Business District will host a Christmas in July event July 25 to 31. Over 20 businesses will offer sales, specials and giveaways. Each customer who makes a purchase at a participating business will receive a ticket into the prize drawing. The winner will be drawn at noon Aug. 5 on the What’s Happening in Mt. Pleasant community Facebook page.
