Karen M. Johnson Leslie, 82, of Lower Burrell, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2024. She was born November 17, 1941, in New Kensington, to the late George and Margaret Reese Johnson. Karen was a 1959 graduate of Ken-Hi and received a bachelor's degree from Clarion University. She was a math, reading, and, later, art teacher for the Allegheny Valley School district. A lifelong member of the Church of God in Lower Burrell, she spearheaded the church's annual Apple Pie and Dumpling Sale and also took great pride in her shortbread cookies. She was also a member of the Park and Recreation Committee of Lower Burrell, the Clan Leslie Society International, the Clan Hay Society American Branch/Scotland, and the St. Andrew's Society of Pittsburgh. Her enjoyments were camping at White Hall Camp in Emlenton, attending the Highland Games in Ligonier, and especially spending time with her three beautiful granddaughters. Survived by her loving son, James MacWilliam (Leanne) Leslie, and adoring granddaughters, Alanna, Leah, and Adeline Leslie. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Robert 'Sonny' Leslie, her son, Reese MacKay Leslie, and sister, Doris C. Johnson. Viewing will be on Wednesday, June 26, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. in ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington, where a service will be held on Thursday, June 27, at 10 a.m. Reverend Dean Ward will officiate.
