Anna "Tille" Turek, 95, of Glassport, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at Grandview Estates in Elizabeth. She was born Sept. 27, 1928, in Lober, PA to the late Michael and Mary Blaho. She was preceded in death by her mother and father; her husband, John Turek; and brothers, John, Michael, and George Blaho. She is survived by her sister, Mary (the late Joseph) Sas; sons, John A. (the late Judith) Turek Jr., Michael (Joy) Turek, Joseph (Janice) Turek, Stephen (Denise) Turek; daughter Barbara (Kevin) Lundy; grandchildren Jade DiClaudio, Zachary Turek, Jaclyn Sorrentino, Steve Turek, John Turek, Jacob Turek, Lena and Laura Lundy; nine great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Anna was a stay-at-home mom and a lifelong member of Queen of the Rosary Parish, the Rosary Society, and Christian Mothers. She had a passion for baking and managed the dessert table for the Queen of the Rosary's Lenten fish fries. Anna also enjoyed duck pin bowling in St. Cecilia's league at Glassport Lanes playing well into her 80s, and continued league scorekeeping until she was 93. Anna could do anything she put her mind to. In her younger days, she was the roving shortstop on a women's WWII softball team and exhibited an artistic flair. She was a Cub Scout den mother and also enjoyed gardening, canning, making crafts and especially baking cookies for the holidays to satisfy her sweet tooth. She would also make her famous 'Martian' spice cake and apple sheet cake for special occasions, and provided the family with homemade Christmas ornaments every year. Anna's seasonal specialties were Lenten skillet-sized cottage cheese and green onion pierogies, and sauerkraut with wild mushrooms soup for Christmas Eve supper. Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 27 at WOJCIEHOWSKI FUNERAL HOME, 640 Vermont Ave., Glassport. Friends and family will gather at 10 a.m. Friday, June 28, for a prayer service at Wojciechowski Funeral Home, with interment next to her husband at Calvary Cemetery, Port View.
