On the morning of Oct. 3, 2024, the world lost Marie K. Kostelnik; a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. She was an active member of the St. Vincent Basilica Parish (Latrobe, PA) and a former volunteer at the St. Vincent Basilica Gift Shop. Marie loved visiting with friends, being with her family, and enjoying her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an avid gardener who enjoyed working in her yard. Preparing meals for family and friends was another of her passions, and she always had something delicious in the kitchen. A native and lifetime resident of Westmoreland County, Marie was born in Lloydsville, PA, in 1925, the daughter of Joseph and Margaret Kutzer. She has three sisters, Roseann Rullo (deceased), Rita Kovach, and Eleanor Madison; and one brother, Vince Kutzer (deceased). Marie married Michael Kostelnik upon his return from the South Pacific, after World War II. They were happily married for 75 years and have five children, Cheryl Kostelnik (deceased), Linda Kostelnik of Latrobe, PA, Michele Nicol, (Dave) of Derry, PA, Michael Kostelnik (Esther) of Cambridge Springs, PA, and Kevin Kostelnik (Lori) of Ligonier, PA; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. As per the family wishes, there were no public visitations. A private service was held at the Mary, Mother of Mercy Mausoleum at St. Vincent Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice. Arrangements were handled by the LOPATICH-BRINKER FUNERAL HOME, LLC, 601 Weldon St., Latrobe.
