Even if you’re tired of the U.S. Open and avoiding the area as best you can, there are still fun events to check out this weekend throughout the Pittsburgh area. Here are a few ideas.
Babesburgh Bash
Women of Western Pennsylvania, it’s time to celebrate with the second annual Babesburgh Bash. The event will return to Allegheny Landing Park on the North Shore for a day of femme fun.
There will be a vendor market of more than 110 local women-owned businesses, food vendors and farmers to provide a perfect shopping experience. Don’t forget to sip some tasty local wine, beer and cocktails while you shop. And if a different kind of relaxation is more your style, enjoy meditation, fitness and wellness sessions.
There will also be music, an Artist Alley and a presence from women-supporting nonprofits. The party will go from 3 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Allegheny Landing Park. Get tickets at babesburgh.com.
DinoFest
What kid (or adult) doesn’t love dinosaurs? The Carnegie Museum of Natural History has one of the world’s best collections, and they’ll be celebrating these ancient creatures on Saturday with DinoFest.
The free-with-admission slate of events will include measuring Dippy the Diplodocus carnegii from head to tail, learning to identify fossils, dino yoga, creating a coloring page based on fossils, and expert dinosaur talks throughout the day. Activities are designed for kids 5-12 and you can drop in throughout the day, so show up when you like.
DinoFest will last from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History in Oakland. See the full schedule at carnegiemnh.org.
Bridgeville Day on the Avenue
Jet over to Bridgeville to explore the area’s downtown and enjoy a Saturday street festival. The day will include craft vendors, local food options, live entertainment, children’s activities, a car cruise and more.
The party will have something for everyone in the family and will give a great opportunity to see the vibrant borough. Festivities will take place on Washington Avenue between Hickman Street and Bower Hill Road on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. See the details at bridgevilleboro.com.
