Another summer month is almost over! As we say goodbye to July, the calendar is still packed with events. If you’re in the mood for goats, dinosaurs, tunes or treats, give one of these events a spin this weekend.
Goat Fest PGH
Adorable goats have become an integral part of maintaining South Side Park, so why not celebrate them with a free festival? Goat Fest PGH will be held at Arlington Ball Field this Saturday from noon to 4 p.m.
The event will include a petting zoo and appearances by working goats from GoatScape. Besides that, there will be live music throughout the day, kids’ activities including face painting and an inflatable slide and an artisan market.
Food trucks will also be on hand, including La Palapa and Popworld. The event is for all ages. Free parking with a shuttle from the UPMC lot located at Sarah Street and Steve Seventy Way will start at 11:30 a.m.

Ice Cream Fundae
Summer isn’t complete without a cool treat! Visit the Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium this Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. for the Pressley Ridge Ice Cream Fundae.
Sample a dozen delicious ice cream flavors and enjoy live music and kids’ activities at this sweet soiree. Face painting, character appearances and more will be part of the event, in addition to access to the zoo itself.

Johnny Mathis
Time for some golden oldies this Sunday. Johnny Mathis, the singer who’s been in the music business for nearly seven decades, will bring his “Voice of Romance Tour” to Heinz Hall.
Mathis, who rose to fame in the 1950s, was the third-best-selling recording artist of the 20th century. He’ll be singing his own music as well as some standards and favorites.

Dippy’s Rockstar Bash After Dark
Dippy the dinosaur is 125 years old! Well … his discovery is, anyway. Those 21 and older can celebrate this Friday night from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History in Oakland.

This “After Dark” event will feature live music, a scavenger hunt, a peek at some unique fossils and pin-making with curator of mollusks Tim Pearce!
Senior dinosaur curator Matt Lamanna will also give a talk titled “Discovering Dippy: The Dinosaur That Changed the World.” A current ID will be required to enter the event and tickets are $24, $19 for museum members. Check out more at carnegiemnh.org.
OpenStreetsPGH
It’s time to shut down the streets to traffic and have fun! Open Streets PGH will host its final event of the year this Saturday in Homewood and the East End.
Attendees can enjoy workshops, classes, delicious treats and tons of activities for kids. Just come to have fun, help clean up litter, or learn how to advocate for safer streets in Pittsburgh. There will also be performances, crafting and more.
