Shirley Stanga, 92, of Lower Burrell, passed away on Friday, Sept. 27, 2024, in Belair Health and Rehabilitation Center, Lower Burrell. She was born in Hempfield Township on July 28, 1932, to the late Charles and Myrtle McDowell Yaklich and lived in Oakmont until moving to Lower Burrell in 1969. Mrs. Stanga was a talented artist and enjoyed writing, drawing, and watching soap operas. She enjoyed baking, especially pies, and cooking Italian food her homemade ravioli was to die for. She also enjoyed traveling to Treasure Lake in DuBois, PA with her husband. She is survived by her five children, Leonard (Karen) Stanga of Natrona Heights, Dennis Stanga of Lower Burrell, Vicki Elizabeth (Jim Ryan) Stanga of North Washington Twp., Gregory A. (Cindy) Stanga of Robinson Township, Scott A. (Wendy) Stanga of DuBois; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and brothers, John Yaklich of Penn Hills, Louis (Barb) Yaklich of Prospect, and Daniel (Sue) Yaklich of Delmont. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard A. Stanga; and brother, Charles Yaklich.
