Richard P. Haas, 85, of Corsica, Union Township, Jefferson County, passed away Saturday, Aug. 24, 2024, at McKinley Health Center, Brookville. He was born May 9, 1939, in Harrison Township, to the late Richard P. and Martha M. (Rovnan) Haas. Richard lived most of his life in Buffalo Township but spent the last 25 years in Corsica. After graduating from high school, he worked at R.P. Haas and Sons as part-owner. He was an insurance adjuster and manager for Erie Insurance, Cranberry Office for 30 years. Richard was a veteran of the US Army and a member of the VFW, the American Legion, and the Eagles, all of Brookville. He was a 1957 graduate of Har Brack High School. Richard was an excellent cook and loved making the Feast of the Seven Fishes on Christmas Eve. He was an antique car enthusiast that could tell the make and model of any antique car you pointed out to him. Richard loved to travel with his late wife, Cathy, on many cross-country adventures, in spite of them both having serious health issues. They especially loved to travel to Las Vegas and Jackson Hole, WY. Richard considered himself an 'accomplished' gambler. Richard and his wife, Cathy, contributed to multiple charities and rescued many cats. Survivors include his siblings, William K. (Donna) Haas and James T. (Cynthia) Haas, both of Upper Burrell, Mary Susan (Joseph) Copcheck, of Fawn Township, and Thomas J. (Amy) Haas, of Penn Hills. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Cathy E. (Brewer) Haas, in 2022; and an infant sister, Mary Haas.
