Christine H. Kern, 81, of Sarver, passed away on Friday, Aug. 16, 2024, at UPMC St. Margaret, Pittsburgh. She was born Feb. 27, 1943, in Dunkirk, NY, a daughter of the late Rudolph and Frances (Palka) Sarek. Christine was a proud wife, mother, and grandmother. She attended St. Mary Mother of God Church in Freeport. Christine was a member of the Piece and Happiness Quilt Club and enjoyed her dog, Jessie James, family time, going to live Polka music shows, quilter's weekends, gardening, and collecting polish pottery. She is survived by two sons, Edward Hardy Kern, Jr., of Buffalo Township and Jason S. (Michelle) Kern, of McDonough, GA; and grandchildren, Edward Hardy (Amanda) Kern III, Kelsey (Patrick) Gallagher, Leah Kern, Jace Kern and Logan Kern. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Hardy Kern, Sr. Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, Aug. 20, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in the REDMOND FUNERAL HOME, INC., 524 High St., in Freeport, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary Mother of God Church in Freeport, on Wednesday, Aug. 21, at 11:00 a.m., with Father Paul Kuppe, OFM Cap. officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Freeport, immediately following the funeral service.
