Robert S. Haines, 93, of Unity Township, died Saturday, Sept. 7, 2024, at Twin Lakes Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Unity Township. He was born June 21, 1931, in Unity Township, the son of the late Robert F. and Edna (Shirey) Haines. He was a graduate of Latrobe High School and was an Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. Prior to retirement, he had been a glassworker for PPG Industries, South Greensburg. Bob was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Trauger. He enjoyed being outdoors, golfing, hunting, gardening, and farming. He also enjoyed bowling and family trips to Rehoboth Beach. Bob was a member of the Hecla Sportsman's Club, Possum Hollow Sportsman's Club, and the American Legion Post No. 982, Pipetown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Robert L. Haines; and his sister, Grace Kelly. Bob is survived by his wife of 64 years, Nancy (Heimann) Haines; two daughters, Marcy Haas and husband Moe, and Kathy Shrader and husband, Dave; daughter-in-law, Kathy Haines; three grandchildren, Kortney Hoone (Jake), Justin Haines, and Jacob Shrader (Andrea Valencia); two great-granddaughters, Ainsley and Amelia; sister-in-law, Patricia Gatons; and numerous nieces and nephews. A private family service will be held with the Rev. David Clement officiating. Private interment in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Trauger. LEO M.
