Mary Louise Mitzi' Long, 83, of Latrobe, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2024, at Brookdale, Latrobe. Born Aug. 21, 1940, in Jeannette, she was a daughter of the late Metro and Inez (Pallotini) Orange. A devout Catholic, Mitzi was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Youngstown, and its Rosary Altar Society. She had been employed by Latrobe Hospital for many years and then as a private nurse. Mitzi was known for being compassionate, caring, and kind. She carried these qualities not only through her nursing career, but as the matriarch of her family as well. Mitzi loved gardening and was also an avid Pittsburgh Steeler fan and she loved to watch all the games. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Thomas B. Long Sr. on April 11, 2021; a son in-law, Jeff Ferlin; and a brother, Metro Orange Jr. She is survived by a son, Thomas B. Long Jr., and his wife, Helene, of Latrobe; a daughter, Beth Ann Ferlin of Latrobe; a brother, Larry Orange, and his wife, Diane, of Smithton; five grandchildren, Alexis Tragos Stockard and her husband, Robert, Caela Long, and her fiance, Sarah, Patrick Long, Kimberly Pretzer; and her husband, Brad, and Joseph Ferlin and his wife, Rachel; and three great-grandsons, Jack, Oliver, and Briggs; and three great-granddaughters on the way. The family would like to thank the staff at Brookdale and Bridges Hospice for their excellent care and compassion. Family and friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m., Friday, at the LOPATICH-BRINKER FUNERAL HOME, LLC, 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Saturday, at Sacred Heart Church, Youngstown, with Rev. James Podlesny, OSB as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Vincent Cemetery.
