M. Jean Skubek, 91, of Latrobe, passed away Thursday, Aug. 8, 2024. She was born Feb. 9, 1933, in Latrobe, a daughter of the late Lewis W. and Mary (Hargnett) Smith. Prior to retirement in 1994, Jean was employed by the Derry Area School District working as a secretary for the junior high/middle school. She had also previously worked at the former W.T. Grant Department Store (Grant's) in Latrobe, first as a sales clerk and then as a personnel manager. She attended Latrobe United Presbyterian Church. Her favorite pastimes included doing crossword puzzles and being an avid hockey fan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Lewis Smith Jr. and his wife Elsie; and her sister, Anna Mae Stormer and her husband, Harry. A devoted housewife and mother, she is survived by her loving husband Daniel A. Skubek; her loving son, Randy E. Skubek; and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from noon to 2 p.m. and 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 11, 2024, in the HARTMAN-GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME INC., 1500 Ligonier St., Latrobe. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 12, 2024, in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Ronald Durika officiating. Interment will follow in Unity Cemetery.
