John J. Valenti, age 91, of Claridge, passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2024. He was born on March 5, 1933, in Westmoreland City, to the late Peter and Desolina (Galozi) Valenti. John is survived by his nieces and nephews, Denise (Robert) Jones, Marcia Valenti Rose, Jill Valenti, Renee (Joseph) Magrane, Alan Cippichio, Debbie Mansfield, Tressa Valenti, and Eric Valenti; and numerous great-nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Patricia, sisters Della and Mary, brothers Bruno and Louis, and nephew John Cippichio. John was a corporal in the United States Army serving during the Korean War. He was a strong support and mentor to his family and those he loved. He had a love of world traveling, hunting, and all things of nature. John was an avid reader and had a great appetite for history. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 30, 2024, at St. Barbara Catholic Church, Harrison City, PA, with Father Michael P. Sikon, officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in St. Barbara Cemetery.
