Free dental care
Residents in Verona and the surrounding areas will have the opportunity to receive free dental services at Verona Dental Care on July 28. Dr. Sumit Gupta, the team at Verona Dental Care, and volunteer doctors from Gibsonia Dental Care, Drs. Anthony Colangelo and Stephanie Wong, will be improving the oral health of the community as part of Free Dentistry Day, a day dedicated to providing free dental care to the growing number of Americans without dental insurance.
During Free Dentistry Day, cleanings, fillings and extractions will be provided to patients between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. at 625 Allegheny River Blvd in Verona. MS fundraiser
The Killer Bees cycling team will hold a fundraiser for the MS Society from noon-7 p.m. July 30 at Inner Groove Brewing in Verona. The event will feature “yinzer trivia,” live music, a flash tattoo artist on site, basket raffles, cash prizes, Benvenuti’s Pizza truck and more. For more information, visit bit.ly/killerbeesMS.
Sports physicals
Penn Hills School District offers free sports physicals for students entering grades 7-12 who want to play a fall sport. Physical forms must be completed entirely online at planeths.com in order to attend the first practice or tryout date. Aug. 7 is the first practice date for varsity and junior varsity football and golf. Aug. 14 is the first practice date for all other fall sports.
Toys for Tots
The Verona Volunteer Fire Company is ramping up for its third annual Christmas In July Toy Drive event benefitting the Allegheny Valley MCL 827 Toys For Tots. It will be collecting toys at the station July 29 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., and Aug. 5 from 4-7 p.m. A spaghetti dinner and open house is scheduled for Aug. 5, so toys can be collected that evening as well.
