Volunteer registrations for the 125th U.S. Open Championship are now available online.
The United States Golf Association is hosting the tournament June 9-15, 2025, at Oakmont Country Club in Plum and has made the official callout for volunteers.
Positions currently are available on nine committees, including access control, corporate hospitality, disability services, fan services, hole and grandstand marshals, 19th hole marshals, merchandise, course distribution and volunteer services, as well as standard bearers (scoreboard carriers) but this position is reserved for ages 14 to 17.
“Volunteers are the backbone of USGA championships and, especially here in Pittsburgh, we have some of the best and most experienced folks in the world lending a hand and helping us bring the U.S. Open to life,” said Reg Jones, managing director of the U.S. Open.
Being a volunteer during the U.S. Open is no small feat.
People who apply need to be fully committed to working at least four shifts a week, with each shift lasting between five and six hours.
Volunteers also are required to buy a $225 “uniform package” that includes two Peter Millar golf shirts, one Peter Millar jacket, a choice of a hat or visor, a stainless-steel water bottle, drawstring bag, commemorative lapel pin, lunch vouchers for each volunteer shift, access to the Volunteer Hospitality tent on volunteer days and a volunteer credential valid for all seven days of the championship.
When signing up, volunteers are asked to select their top three committee preferences. They will be randomly assigned. The positions are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
