Eleanor Bauer Bernacchi, 98, passed away peacefully Monday, Feb. 5, 2024. She was born Nov. 3, 1925, in Hammond, Ind., to parents, Caroline and Carl Bauer. Eleanor graduated from Purdue University in 1947 with a degree in chemical engineering, one of only two girls in the graduating class. She lived a full life with her husband, Ben Bernacchi, moving from Indiana to Pennsylvania in 1964. Eleanor's greatest accomplishment was raising her three beloved daughters, with special attention to the youngest, who faced learning difficulties. In recent years, she was a resident at Redstone Highlands, where she enjoyed solving crossword puzzles. Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Herman, who died in World War II; her husband, Ben Bernacchi; and her youngest daughter, Shirley Bernacchi. She is survived by daughters, Ginger Armpriester and Linda Lazzaro; five grandchildren, Adrian (Renee) Armpriester, Andy (Cari) Armpriester, Tony (Lianne) Armpriester, Jennifer Lazzaro and Scott (Madie) Lazzaro; seven great-grandchildren; and nephew, Bill (Charlene) Bauer. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, 2024, at HART FUNERAL HOME INC., Murrysville. A blessing service for Eleanor will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home, followed by entombment in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.
