Penn-Trafford’s hockey team recorded another victory and their fourth shutout of the season Nov. 7.
The Warriors (6-0) went to Johnstown for the second time this season and came back with their second shutout victory against Bishop McCort, winning 5-0. They won 6-0 on Oct. 21.
This time, it was not Tyler Funk in goal. It was sophomore Carson Weishorn who turned away 16 shots on goal. Funk (3-0) has three shutouts.
Cam Kiste scored two goals and Aiden Drotos, Robert Thatcher and Gavin Paterson had one each.
Drotos and Kyler Doran each had two assists, while Brock Bienemann, Marco Ferraccio and Paterson added one assist apiece.
The Warriors were scheduled to battle Latrobe on Nov.14, play host to Armstrong on Nov. 18 and travel to Fox Chapel on Nov. 21.
Field hockey all-stars
Junior midfielder Liz Welsh and senior Giuliana Youngo were named to the Class 2A field hockey all-star first team announced Nov. 11.
Senior Rilie Moors, also a midfielder, made the honorable mention team.
Welsh and Youngo were also named to the all-WPIAL team.
P-T grads honored
Two men with Penn-Trafford roots were inducted into the Carnegie Mellon Athletics Hall of Fame. Rob Cortazzo and Dave Richards were members of the 1983 football team that received induction.
Cortazzo was a second-team All-PAC lineman.
The ‘83 Tartans went 9-0 with six shutouts during the regular season and went to the NCAA Division III playoffs.
Their school record of 58 first downs allowed in a season remains intact. They only gave up three touchdown passes all season under legendary coach Chuck Klausing.

Football
Grove City: Junior linebacker Jack Jollie had a team-high seven tackles, one for loss, and junior running back Ian Demeri ran for 60 yards and a touchdown as Grove City (8-1, 8-1 PAC) defeated Case Western Reserve, 30-20.
Women’s basketball
Edinboro: Junior guard Maura Suman had 10 points, four assists and three steals as the Fighting Scots opened with a 78-62 victory over Wheeling.
