Anthony B. Nigro, 95, passed away peacefully Saturday, Feb. 11, 2023, three days shy of his 96th birthday, in Arden Courts of Monroeville. Tony was born Feb. 14, 1927, in Cleto, Italy, the son of the late Nicola and Christina (Arlotti) Nigro. Tony was a veteran of the Navy during World War II, serving as a fireman first class. He served on the USS Herbert C. Jones and USS Douglass L. Howard Destroyer Ships. Tony previously worked at Nigro's Cleaners and retired from Able Tool Co. He was a member of St. Regis Church in Trafford and an active member of the former Trafford Lions Club. Tony was an avid gardener and was proud of his home, garden and family. In addition to his parents, Tony was preceded in death by his siblings, Louis Nigro, Mary A. Smith and Mafalda DePaola. Tony is survived by his wife of 71 years, Josephine B. (Toto) Nigro; his children, David Nigro (Jocelyn), of Level Green, Vincent Nigro (Ying-Chi), of Mountain View, Calif., and Christina Perovich (Steven), of Trafford; his grandchildren, Jenna and Lia Nigro and Marcus Perovich; his siblings, John A. Nigro (Helen), of Penn Hills, and Delina Callahan, of Monroeville; and numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the JOHN M. Parting prayers will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home, followed by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Regis Church with Father George Saletrik as celebrant. Interment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park Mausoleum, Delmont, with military honors.
