Helen S. Bell, 92, of Greensburg, died Wednesday, July, 31, 2024. She was born Oct. 10, 1931, in Tarentum, a daughter of the late Francis and Sarah Dunn Sefton. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Rebecca Demi. She attended Seton Hill College. Helen was a caseworker for the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare for over 20 years. Following in her Aunt Helen's footsteps, Helen was an excellent musician who was the church organist at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church for over 30 years. Helen also played the piano and organ at hundreds of weddings throughout the Pittsburgh area. Her skills in knitting and needlework garnered many blue ribbons at the Westmoreland County Fair. She loved to knit Christmas stockings for her family and friends. Many people around the area will have these beautiful stockings for the rest of their lives. Helen became a member of Zion's Lutheran Church, Greensburg, in her later years. She was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates fan and loved her volunteer work at Historic Hannastown and the Greensburg YWCA Thrift Shop. Helen is survived by two sons, James (Carol) Bell, III, of Erie, and Richard Bell, of Ligonier; two daughters, Margaret (Tom) Brecht, of Saltsburg, and Nancy (Chuck) Spallone, of Greensburg; eight grandchildren, Elizabeth, Courtney, Laura, Frank, Jessica, Jacob, Sydney, and Shelby; and five great-grandchildren, Cole, Ben, Elyse, Wyeth, and Hunter. Family and friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Monday at BARNHART FUNERAL HOME, 505 E. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg.
