Sean M. McKinney, 65, of West Deer Township, died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2024, at Platinum Ridge Rehabilitation Center, Brackenridge, with his family by his side. He was born April 29, 1959 in Pittsburgh, to the late William H. and Emaline (Herrington) McKinney. Sean has lived most of his life in West Deer, graduating from Deer Lakes High School in 1977. Sean loved playing, producing, performing and recording music. He played in various bands, including the J.D. and the Squires band, as well as the White Horse Band. He worked as a cold steel roll former for Haskell of Pittsburgh. Sean loved life, his family and his friends. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Sherri A. (Zablo) McKinney; his son, Eric M. (Sarah) McKinney of Butler; and his grandson, Benjamin O. McKinney. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Victoria Rupp; and his brother, Regis McKinney. Friends received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 7:30 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 4, in the SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer Township, where a funeral service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Sean, being an ordained minister, has pre-recorded his funeral service, which will be played. His burial will be private.
