Trib HSSN baseball player of the week – Logan Plummer
School – Pine-Richland
Class – Senior
Position – First baseman, pitcher
#Earned – Pine-Richland senior Logan Plummer began the 2026 season red-hot on the mound but struggling a bit at the plate.
In the second week of Section 3-5A series play in a showdown for first place against Fox Chapel and in a nonsection contest against Class 6A power Mt. Lebanon, one of those trends continued and one changed in a big way.
On offense, Plummer opened up the clog in his hitting and improved his average by nearly .150 points, going from .167 to .318 with five hits in 10 at-bats.
He had four extra base hits and five RBIs this week in the Rams’ two victories over the Foxes and their loss to the Blue Devils.
On Monday, Plummer helped a two-run rally to tie the game with an RBI double, and he later scored the tying run in the fifth inning of a 6-4 Pine-Richland win in eight innings.
The next day, Plummer doubled again and then homered in a six-run inning that helped the Rams sweep the Foxes, 7-4, to improve to 4-0 atop the section.
In that Tuesday home victory, Plummer was the winning pitcher.
The senior left-hander has an ERA that matches the GPA of John Blutarsky from “Animal House,” zero-point-zero.
Plummer is 2-0 this season and has yet to give up an earned run in 13 innings pitched. He has allowed six hits with 11 walks and 15 strikeouts.
On Thursday at Mt. Lebanon, the Rams lost, but Plummer was 2 for 3 with a triple and three RBIs.
Logan grew up in the Shaler school district but moved to the Pine-Richland school district in seventh grade.
He has always played hockey and baseball growing up, but prior to high school, he made the decision to focus on baseball.
Plummer has been a starter since his sophomore season.
Last year as a junior, he batted .288 with a home run and nine RBIs. On the hill, he was 1-0 with a 2.10 ERA.
While he didn’t play during his high school career, Plummer enjoys golfing.
He also decided this past winter to play for the Pine-Richland unified bocce team.
He will continue his academic and baseball career next year at Mercyhurst.
