At least it’s not raining.

That seemed to be the consensus among folks who attended Pine Community Day as temperatures topped 90 degrees on the afternoon of June 22.

Yes, it was a scorcher. But in place at Pine Community Park were plenty of ways to beat the heat, from stepping into a misting tent to partaking of frozen treats and cold beverages to taking a seat under a shade tree.

Whatever the case, the park was packed with people enjoying amusement park-type attractions, visiting a variety of booths and filling up on food-truck offerings.

Community Day in neighboring Richland, the 30th annual event of its type, is scheduled for Aug. 10. And with any luck, that afternoon will be somewhat on the cooler side.

And it won’t be raining.
