‘What’s In a Name’ program

The Richland History Group, in conjunction with Northern Tier Regional Library, will offer a free, open-to-the-community speakers program at the library at 6:30 p.m. June 19.

Retired Butler history teacher Steve Cicero, the “History Hobo,” will present “What’s In a Name,” providing the often-unknown historical significance and fascinating stories behind the names of everyday Pittsburgh area places and things.

Veterans and first responders will be recognized, and free light refreshments will be available. Please register with the history group at 724 443-1112 or the library at 724 449-2655.

Farm-to-Fork series continues

Chatham University’s Farm to Fork dinner series at Eden Hall Campus continues each Thursday throughout the summer each week through August.

The Farm-to-Fork events will occur rain or shine from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Thursdays at Chatham University’s Eden Hall Campus in Richland.

Chefs from Parkhurst Dining will create dishes utilizing produce from Eden Hall’s farm and other local vendors.

Attendees can dine in and enjoy their meal at the barn or Eden Hall’s outdoor setting or take out dinners. While at Eden Hall, visitors can explore the campus, charge an electric vehicle at the new EV station or go for an after-dinner hike on the trail network.

Summer learning program

“Adventure Begins at Your Library” is the theme for the summer learning program at Northern Tier Library, featuring lots of community crafts, friendly programs and gathering activities.

The program through Aug. 2 and wraps up with a celebratory bash on Aug. 3.

Featured are returning activities such as outside STEM events, paper art take-home projects and kids’ cooking classes, plus new additions like a baking club for tweens and teens, an all-ages project group for beginners only and outdoor storybook walks.

The 50th-anniversary reunion of the Richland High School Class of 1974 is scheduled for Oct. 5 in Cranberry.
