William Paul Fodiak, 68, passed away at home surrounded by his family Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2024. He was an award-winning print journalist and educator. He was born in Latrobe in 1955 to the late Michael Fodiak and Theresa Fodiak (ne Paterchak) and grew up in Trauger. He created the Sportsman's Diary newspaper at age 16. He attended Duquesne University and graduated with a bachelor's degree in journalism in 1977. He went on to receive a master's degree in journalism at Penn State. He married his wife, Ann, in 1983 and had a son, Jeffrey, in 1984. Over his career, he worked for various newspapers including the Catholic Accent, the Ocean City Times and the Pittsburgh Catholic. He later worked for the Knights of Columbus. He retired in 2012. He is survived by his wife and son. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 p.m. Thursday until the time of Vigil Prayers at 7:45 p.m. at HOFFER WILT FUNERAL HOME (formerly Jay A. Hoffer Funeral Home) where Transfer Prayers will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Friday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, celebrated by Father John Sedlak, at 10 a.m. in St. Florian Church.
