Charles Snyder Jr., 99, of Mt. Pleasant, formerly of Tarrs, passed away Friday Jan. 27, 2023, in Excela Health Frick Hospital. Charles was born Sept. 17, 1923, in Bridgeport, to the late Charles and Inez Kastner Snyder. Charles was a lifelong member of the Bridgeport United Methodist Church and a part of their adult Bible class. Mr. Snyder was in the United States Army, where he proudly served his country during World War II. He was a member of the VFW Post 3368, of Mt. Pleasant, and Bridgeport Sportsman's Club. Charles loved to go fishing, spending time in his garden and most of all spending time with his family. Charles is survived by his loving children, Brenda Caruso (William), of Mt. Pleasant, Charles N. Snyder, of Tarrs, and Judy R. Monroe, of Mt. Pleasant; his loving grandchildren, Jason B. Snyder (Sara), Nathan C. Snyder (Terry), William J. Caruso III, Melissa L. Caruso (Toriano) and Joseph C. Monroe Jr.; and by his adoring great-grandsons, Tyler L. Kocevar and Hunter C. Snyder. Mr. Snyder is also survived by his sister, Anna Marie Martin; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his loving wife of more than 68 years, Ona Rae Neiderhiser Snyder, in 2018; his son-in-law, Joseph C. Monroe; and by his siblings, McClelland Snyder, Hubert Snyder, Inez Jane Gowton, Jackson Snyder, Phyllis Grosser and Lilly Mae Snyder. Family and friends are invited from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2023, in GALONE-CARUSO FUNERAL HOME, Mt. Pleasant. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bridgeport United Methodist Church, 481 Bridgeport St., Mt. Pleasant. Everyone please go directly to the church. Interment will follow in Mt. Joy Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post 446 and VFW Post 3368, both of Mt. Pleasant.
