Local marching bands to perform at 77th annual AK Marching Band Festival

The 77th annual Alle-Kiski Marching Band Festival will be Tuesday at Valley High School, Stevenson Blvd., New Kensington.

Gates will open at 6:15 p.m. and the show starts at 7. Students from Freeport Area, Highlands, Penn Hills, Leechburg Area, Springdale, Apollo-Ridge, Deer Lakes, Burrell, Plum, Kiski Area and Valley high schools will participate. Admission is $5.

There will be a concession stand, bake sale, basket raffle and 50-50. Rain date is Wednesday.


Local food bank seeking donations

The Allegheny Valley Association of Churches Food Bank currently needs donations of non-perishable food and household items.

Products most needed include toilet paper, paper towels, feminine products, diapers in sizes 4, 5, 6 and 7; canned vegetables, fruit, beef stew, ravioli, tuna, chicken and soups; boxed side dishes, spaghetti sauce, peanut butter, boxed cereal and sugar-free and gluten-free items.
