Charles Lawrence Irwin, 85, of Kiawah Island, SC, husband of Daphne (Johnsie) Irwin, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, September 11, 2024. Larry was born August 28, 1939, in Pittsburgh, PA, a son of Ralph H. Irwin and Dorothy Colbert Irwin. He attended Shady Side Academy, graduated from Williston Academy in 1958, and attended Yale University, graduating with a B.A. in Economics in 1963. He founded Irwin Alloys and Raw Materials trading in Ferro-Alloys, Scrap, and Coal. With the decline of the steel industry, he joined Veka Inc. as President. He retired in 2002. He then moved to Brays Island in Sheldon, SC, where he enjoyed hunting with his German Shorthaired Pointers, shooting sporting clays, trapping, fishing, and golfing. In addition to the activities at Brays Island, Larry thoroughly enjoyed his four hunting trips to Africa. He is survived by his son, Charles (Gail) Irwin; daughter, Alison Lally; grandchildren, Casey (Clem) Newcamp, Andrew Irwin, Garrett Lally, Shea Lally; and three great-grandchildren, Sage, Ember, and Flora Newcamp.
