As of this writing, power is still out for a number of people in Allegheny County. If you are one of those unlucky households and you don’t feel like running a marathon this weekend, here are some other things you can do to get out of the house.

‘Star Wars’ at the Science Center

May the Fourth be with you! Sunday is the most celebrated holiday in the Star Wars fandom, so this is the ideal weekend to revisit the original trilogy of “Star Wars” films. And what better way to do that than on a giant screen?

This weekend, the Carnegie Science Center on the North Shore will show all three films in the Rangos Giant Cinema. “Star Wars: A New Hope” will show Friday at 7 p.m., “Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back” will show Saturday at 7 p.m., and “Star Wars: Return of the Jedi” will show on Sunday at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $12 for nonmembers and $10 for members. Learn more at carnegiesciencecenter.org.

Derby Day Party at Bakery Square

Don’t forget about the Kentucky Derby horse race on this already-packed weekend. Head to Bakery Square in East Liberty for a Derby-themed party to enhance the experience of the race.

The party will feature a “Night at the Races” experience, an outdoor bar ready to pour mint juleps, a contest for the best, most extravagant Derby hat and music from Eclectic Acoustics.

Tickets are $15. The party will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Bakery Square Courtyard. Get tickets at bakery-square.com.

Magdalena Bay

Electropop duo Magdalena Bay is bringing their surprising, ethereal and futuristic brand of music to the Roxian Theatre in McKees Rocks, pushing the boundaries of pop music. Their spellbinding second album, 2024’s “Imaginal Disk,” was met with critical acclaim and is the work that the Imaginal Mystery Tour revolves around. Their music is accessible and danceable, but also a little bit magical and off-the-beaten-path.

With expansive but catchy songs and impressive visuals, this tour is bound to be unforgettable. The duo will play at the Roxian Theatre in McKees Rocks on Saturday at 7 p.m.

Free Comic Book Day

Saturday is the annual Free Comic Book Day, which means that comics lovers can visit their favorite local stores, shop around and receive selected comic books for free. Much like Record Store Day, there are special releases for the national event.

Here in Pittsburgh, several local stores will be participating, including Phantom of the Attic in Oakland, which will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and will feature appearances from comic artists Dave Wachter and Jeffrey Williams.

Other participating stores include Eide’s Entertainment in Downtown Pittsburgh and South Side Comics in Whitehall. To learn more, visit freecomicbookday.com.

Spring Artists Market

The Pittsburgh Center for Arts and Media in Shadyside will hold its spring artists’ market on Saturday. With an eye on supporting local artists and artisans, they’re selling goods from more than 30 vendors, offering products from glasswork to jewelry to shell art to soaps and so much more.

While you shop and stroll, make sure to savor some delicious food from El Sabor, which will be on-site. Also, grab an adult beverage from Two Frays Brewery. Tabling at the event will be furry friends nonprofit Rescue and Relax, a Pittsburgh cat lounge.

The event will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at 1047 Shady Ave. See all the information about the vendors at pghartsmedia.org.
