Salvatore J. "Sam" Fanelli, 84, of Bell Township, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2024 in his home. Born December 1, 1939 in Bell Township he was the son of the late Pasquale and Angelina (Scaglione) Fanelli. He was a 1958 graduate of Bell-Avon High School and a veteran of the United States Army. Sam was the classified advertisement manager for the Valley News Dispatch for several years. He was the owner and operator of Riverview Homes, Inc. and Pleasant Valley Manufactured Homes, Inc., where he was active until 2019. Sam was a member of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Avonmore. He enjoyed playing tennis and golf. Sam would spend time reading the newspaper and relaxing at his swimming pool. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, specifically his grandchildren and great- grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Nick and Joseph Fanelli. Sam is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Carole D. (Foster) Fanelli of Bell Township; sons, Robert V. (Kim) Fanelli of Ford City, John D. (Tiffany) Fanelli of Bell Township; granddaughters, Krysta (Evan) Taylor, Genna (Justin) Mancine and Jessica Fanelli; great grandchildren, Avery, Luna, Nova, Piper, Theo, Henry; siblings, Filomena Varvaro of Westview, Carmela Fanelli of Westview, Leon Fanelli of Bell Township and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 24, 2024 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the CURRAN-SHAFFER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, INC., 100 Owens View Ave., Apollo. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday, April 25, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, 505 Cambria Ave., Avonmore, PA 15618 with Father John Harrold as celebrant.
