Alfred J. Novak, 86, of Slickville, passed away Thursday, Mar. 21, 2024. He was born Aug. 7, 1937, Slickville, a son of the late Louis and Mary (Volkar) Novak Sr. Alfred was a member of St. Sylvester Church, Slickville, Slickville American Legion, Slickville Sportsman Club, and Slickville Lions Club (recipient of Melvin Jones Fellow). Alfred enjoyed working on his Corvette, Polka dancing, visiting with friends, cutting grass, pig roasts, being the Slickville Historian, and especially loving his grandkids. Prior to his retirement, Alfred was employed by Beckwith Machinery as a Field Service Manager for 35 years. Alfred was also co-owner of L.J. Novak Oil Company. In addition to his parents, Alfred was preceded in death by his brothers, Louis Novak, Frank (Goldie) Novak, and Albert (Donna) Novak; and his sister, Laverna Novak. Alfred will be sadly missed by his loving and devoted wife of 66 years, Audrey (Biss) Novak; daughter, Laura (George) Yarbenet; sons, John (Holly) Novak, and Martin (Mary) Novak; and his sister, Jane (Tom) McClaren. Alfred was a proud grandfather of Nicole Yarbenet, Griffin Yarbenet, Jeff (Jacquie) Novak, John Novak Jr., Kate (Tyler) Hohmann, Martin (Cassandra) Novak Jr., Mark Novak, and fiancee Kristyn; and great-grandson, Anthony Novak, who he loved dearly. Family and friends will be received from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Mar. 24, and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, Mar. 25, 2024, at the VAIA FUNERAL HOME INC., 463 Athena Dr., Delmont, 724-468-1177. A Mass will be celebrated for Alfred, 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Mar. 26, at St. Sylvester Church, Slickville, followed by a graveside committal at Twin Vally Memorial Park, Delmont, everyone is to meet at the church.
