Mario 'Bugsy' Ravotti Jr, 93, of Freeport passed away on Wednesday, Mar. 20, 2024, peacefully at his granddaughter's home in West Deer Townahip. Mario was born in Freeport on Oct. 10, 1930, a son of the late Clara (Conti) and Mario Ravotti, Sr. He was the widower of Barbara J. (Anselmo) Ravotti, who passed away in 2022. Mario was a 1948 graduate of Freeport High School. After graduation, he went to work for the Hicks Coal Co. in the Butler Juction section of Freeport. Then, in August of 1952, he enlisted in the US Army. He spent 2 years in the U.S. Army Ordnance Corps. In August of 1954, Mario received his honorable discharge and came back home to Freeport. He worked for PPG Industries in Creighton for a number of years. Mario then obtained his life insurance license and began his career as an agent with American General Life Ins. Co. Mario was the Freeport agent for over 30 years. He was a member of St. Mary, Mother of God Church in Freeport. Mario was a life member of the White Star Fraternal Society. He loved to go fishing. He enjoyed hunting, bowling, bocci ball, baseball and going to all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren's sporting events and activities. Mario is survived by his two sons, Timothy and Janice Ravotti of New Kensington, and Thomas Ravotti and Meredith Carabin-Ravotti of New Kensington; his grandchildren, Holli Ravotti, Kylie Bibza and Jimmy McGuire, Jessica and Jorge Rojas, Kristen and Kurt Knott, Cori Ravotti, and Isabella Carabin; great-grandchildren, Edward, Allee, Seano, George, Samantha, Abigail, McKenna, Elena, Leo, and Kade. Mario is also survived by his sister, Theresa and Roger Kalmeyer, of Freeport; three brothers, Edward "Butch" and Claudia Ravotti, Guido and Sandra Ravotti, and Allen "Chip" and Loretta Ravotti; and sisters-in-law, Loretta Ravotti and Beverley Ravotti. In addition to his parents and wife, Mario is preceded in death by his brothers, Dominic, Raymond and Robert Ravotti; and his sister, Della Miller. Family and friends will be received from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 24 in the REDMOND FUNERAL HOME INC., 524 High St. in Freeport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, March 25 at 10 a.m. in St. Mary, Mother of God Church at 608 High St. in Freeport, with Reverend Richard J. Kosisko, JCL officiating. Burial will be held in St. Mary's Cemetery, Freeport, PA.
