Carmen M. Nieves Riddle, 93, of DuBois, formerly of Greensburg, died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2024, in Christ the King Manor, DuBois. She was born Nov. 15, 1930, in Camuy, Puerto Rico, a daughter of the late Teodoro Nieves and Felicita Nieves y Perez. Prior to retirement, she had worked as a nurse's aide for Westmoreland Hospital for more than 20 years. She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Greensburg. Carmen was an excellent seamstress and an avid quilter. She loved to travel and garden. She especially loved flowers and had two green thumbs. After retirement, Carmen enjoyed helping the elderly in their homes. She and her husband, Jack, had also volunteered with Big Brothers Big Sisters. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack A. Riddle; and her sister, Angela Nieves. She is survived by two daughters, Cathy Casagrande (Anthony), of Luthersburg, and Cynthia Nieves (Dennis), of San Antonio, Texas; four grandchildren, Autumn Vida (Gary), Antonio Casagrande (Kerri), Kelia Gabriel (Jason) and Dennis Nieves (Susie); and 13 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 12, 2024, at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 516 Stanton St., Greensburg, where a funeral service will immediately follow at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Shirley Musick officiating.
