JEFFERSON HILLS, Pa.; May 10, 2024 -- The Thomas Jefferson High School baseball, softball and boys volleyball squads have received their first-round WPIAL Championship assignments. All three teams will begin WPIAL playoff action the week of May 13.

Section Champion Baseball Earns No. 2 Seed; Meets Ringgold

The Thomas Jefferson baseball squad (17-2) is the No. 2 seed in the WPIAL 4A Tournament and will meet Ringgold in the first round. The contest will begin at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15 and be played at Boyce Mayview Park in Upper St. Clair. The winner will meet the victor of the Chartiers Valley vs. Kiski Area game in the quarterfinals on May 20 (site TBA). Coached by Tim Vickers, the Jaguars were 4A, Section 3 co-champions, posting a 9-1 mark to share the title with West Mifflin, who is the No. 3 seed.

Tickets for the WPIAL Baseball Tournament are $7 through the semifinals and $10 for the finals and consolation games and can be purchased at the gate or at www.gofan.co/wpial. The baseball championship games will be held May 28-29 at Wild Things Park in Washington, Pa.

Softball Meets South Fayette on Monday

The TJ softball team earned the No. 10 seed in the WPIAL 5A Tournament. Coached by Heidi Karcher, the Jaguars will face No. 7 South Fayette on Monday, May 13. The contest will begin at 2 p.m. and be played at Peterswood Park in Peters Twp. The winner will face the victor of the North Hills vs. Mars contest in the quarterfinals on May 15.

Tickets for the WPIAL Softball Tournament are $7 through the semifinals and $10 for the finals and can be purchased at the gate or at www.gofan.co/wpial. The WPIAL Softball championship games will be held at Lilley Field on the campus of Penn West University, California, with the 5A title game on May 29 or 30.

Boys Volleyball Visits Greater Latrobe

The TJ boys volleyball team is the No. 10 seed in the WPIAL 2A Tournament and will travel to No. 7 Greater Latrobe in the first round. The match will begin at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14. The winner will meet No. 2 seed North Catholic in the quarterfinals on May 16. Coached by Frank Staffen, the Jaguars will play in the OLSH Tournament on Saturday for its final prep heading into the WPIAL playoffs.

Tickets for the WPIAL Boys Volleyball Tournament are $5 for students and $7 for adults through the semifinals at www.gofan.co/wpial; all tickets are $7 at the gate. Tickets are $10 for the finals. The WPIAL 2A Championship match is May 23 at Peters Twp. High School.
