JEFFERSON HILLS, Pa.; March 3, 2024 -- The Section champion Thomas Jefferson High School boys basketball team has earned the WPIAL's No. 4 seed in the PIAA Class 5A State Tournament. The Jaguars (21-5) will travel to York Suburban (20-6), the No. 3 seed from District 3, for a first round game on Friday, March 8 at 6 p.m.

Led by Coach Dom DeCicco, the Jaguars won WPIAL's 5A, Section 1 with a 10-0 record, securing their first Section title since delivering back-to-back Section crowns in 2013 and '14. The No. 4 seed in the WPIAL playoffs, TJ defeated Penn-Trafford and Kiski Area before a heart-breaking 67-65 loss to No. 1 seed and eventual WPIAL Champion Moon Area in the semifinals.

The winner of the TJ-York Suburban contest will advance to the second round on March 12 to play the winner of the Moon Area vs. Obama Academy game. The quarterfinals are March 15, the semifinals are March 18 and the PIAA 5A Championship game is March 22 at the Giant Center in Hershey.

The Jaguars are returning to the PIAA Tournament for the first time since the 2019-20 season.
