Ruby Mae (Boyd) Shearer, 90, of Gilpin Township, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2023, in Platinum Ridge Nursing Home, Brackenridge. Born Jan. 19, 1933, in Bethel Township, she was a daughter of Harry L. Boyd and Olive M. (Fiscus) Boyd. Ruby was employed by Garone's Mushroom Farm in West Leechburg and was primarily a homemaker. She enjoyed planting and tending to flowers, cooking and baking. Ruby was a member of Forks Zion Lutheran Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Shearer, who passed away March 6, 2022; daughter, Georgia M. Walker; son-in-law, James Smail; great-grandson, Layten Bowser; sister, Jean Ruffner; and nephew, Tom Schaeffer. Ruby is survived by her daughter, Sandra (George) Bowser, of Bethel Township; son, Edward Shearer, of Gilpin Township; daughter-in-law, Margaret Shearer; grandchildren, James (Jennifer) Smail, of Pittsburgh, David (April) Smail, of Bethel Township, Tara (Dan) Anthony, of Manorville, Bruce (MiKi) Shearer, of Minnesota, Paul Shearer, of Mt. Joy, and George C. Bowser, of Kittanning; great-grandchildren, Beau and Chase Anthony, Landen and Laylie Bowser, J.J. and Joe Smail, Kylie and Logan Smail and Roland and Rhys Shearer; sister, Mary (Henry) Fox, of Worthington; sister-in-law, Grace (Doug) Seitam; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.
