James E. Curry, 81, of Unity Township, passed away on July 2, 2024, at Independence Health System Latrobe Hospital. Born on Oct. 19, 1942, in Jeannette. A son of Jack Elmer Curry and stepson of Edith Halstead. He was a devoted craftsman, whose meticulous skill touched everything he worked on. James retired from the Elliott Company in Jeannette, where he served as a dedicated machinist. A man with a passion for the outdoors, James found joy in hunting, fishing, and spending time immersed in nature. He greatly valued the camaraderie he shared with friends at the Greensburg Sportsman's Association. His talents extended from there, as he built several large-scale model airplanes and cherished the moments spent flying R.C. airplanes with his son at Mammoth Park. James was a proud member of the Laurel Highlands Model Airplane Club (LHMAC) and the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA). His craftsmanship and dedication to his hobbies were a testament to his character and the legacy he leaves behind. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Saundra Curry; and his sisters, Deborah (Frank) Griffin and Bonita 'Bunny' (Mike) Saunders. He is survived by his loving son, John "Jay" (Melanie Evans) Curry; his cherished grandchildren, Annette Curry and Katie (Seth) Barbrow; his former wife, Dorothea (Crum) Miller; and his significant acquaintance, Phyllis McIntyre.
