Joseph H. Mains, 97, of Jeannette, passed away Saturday, Feb. 10, 2024, at AHN Forbes Hospital Monroeville. Born Oct. 12, 1926, in Grapeville, he was the son of the late Charles and Marcella Pifer Mains. Joe retired with over 40 years as a glass cutter at ASG Industries and spent some of his later years employed with Blockbuster. Joseph was a World War II veteran, having served in the Pacific aboard the U.S.S. Laertes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 72 years, Mary Jane Mains; his son, Martin J. Mains; brothers, Charles Mains Jr., Kenneth, Paul and David Mains; and sisters, Anna Marcella (Honey) Peer, Donna Giaquinto, Margaret Beckner and Naomi Songer; daughter-in-law, Geneva Mains (late wife of son, Donald). He is survived by three children, Diana Jo Auen and her husband, Neil, of Florida, Donald James Mains, of Florida, and Patrick Joseph Mains and his wife, Mouly, of Georia; daughter-in-law, Lisa Mains (wife of late son, Martin); eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Richard Mains; sister, Brenda Keffer; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received in the MASON-GELDER FUNERAL HOME INC., 201 N. First St., Jeannette from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. Wednesday with George Mains officiating.
