Daniel J. Nitoski, age 85, formerly of Holly, MI, entered eternal life at Beaumont of Troy Hospital, on Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2024, following a fight with Covid. He was born Jan. 29, 1939, in Natrona, the son of the late Joesph and Celie Nitoski. Daniel graduated from Har-Brack High, in Pennsylvania, in 1956, before getting married and moving to Michigan. Daniel worked for Comerica bank, from 1966 until 2004, when he retired after 39 years. During his life, Dan enjoyed following politics, learning about history, listening to jazz, and classical music. He kept fit by regularly jogging, biking, or working outside well into his 80s. Daniel was an active member of St. Kieran Parish in Shelby Township, the Holly Moose Lodge, and the Clarkston Knights of Columbus, throughout his retirement. He took great pleasure in watching all sports, particularly the Pittsburgh Pirates, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Detroit Tigers. Dan cherished spending time with his two grandchildren. Daniel was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Natalene Knepshield Nitoski. He is survived by his son, Michael (Anne) of Troy; his two grandchildren, Noah of Fort Worth, Texas, and Mikayla of LaGrange, Georgia; his two siblings, Larry Nitoski of Natrona Heights, and Dorothy Maloney of Hudson, Ohio; his long-term partner, Catherine Shamley of Washington Township, Michigan. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anastasia Catholic Church, 4571 John R. Road, Troy, MI, at 10 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 16, 2024.
