Philip was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years Rosellen Sullivan; his oldest daughter Ann Overly, brother Donald Reilly of Las Vegas, and his parents Phillip Jerome Reilly Sr. and Helen Haefele of Connellsville. Phillip was born in Pittsburgh on Aug. 16, 1936. He grew up in Connellsville and graduated from Connellsville Area High School in 1954. He attended his beloved University of Notre Dame, where he was a pre-med student. Phillip went to attend the University of Pittsburgh Medical School, graduating from there in 1962. Following college, he proudly served in the Army National Guard. He met the love of life, Rosellen Sullivan, in 1960, while they were both working at Southside Hospital in Pittsburgh. Rosellen was working as a labor and delivery nurse and Phillip was completing his residency. The couple married in 1963, raised their family in Ruffsdale, and set up his medical practice in Smithton. Early in his career, Dr. Reilly served as the school physician for the Belle Vernon Area School District and occasionally assisted schools in neighboring districts when needed. Throughout his more than 50 years practicing medicine, Dr. Reilly was affiliated with several hospital systems including Penn Highlands Mon Valley Hospital, Independence Health System Westmoreland Hospital and most notably Independence Health Frick Hospital, where he also served two terms as President of the Board. Dr. Reilly received numerous professional honors and awards during his five decades of service including a nationally-recognized Five Star Patient excellence award from U.S. News Magazine. As a physician, he was most known not only for his commitment to medical excellence, but for his unwavering compassion for every patient he's ever served. Doctor Reilly was a dedicated family man, who took pride in supporting his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews in all things academic and sports. As an avid sports fan, he certainly loved the Steelers and Panthers; but nothing superseded the pride of his alma mater. He especially enjoyed the annual outing to South Bend, to take pride in a football weekend with the family. We thank you. We love you. Rest in Peace now. Go Irish! A Catholic memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, June 10, 2024 at Saint John the Baptist/Saint Joseph Church at 416 South Broadway Ave. in Scottdale.
