Russell L. McCull ough Jr., 87, of North Huntingdon, died Sunday, April 14, 2024. He was born Dec. 22, 1936, in Red Bank NJ, a son of the late Rev. Russell L. McCullough Sr. and Isabel (Brod) McCullough. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Nancy J. (Whalen) McCullough. Russ attended Thiel College and retired as vice president of Irwin Bank & Trust. He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Irwin, a fifty-year member and past master of Shidle Lodge, No. 601, F. & A. M., Irwin, a member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Pittsburgh, Syria Temple, Pittsburgh, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Westmoreland Forest No. 77, and the Order of Eastern Star, Irwin Chapter 400. He was also a member of the DeMolay Legion of Honor, the Norwin Elks Lodge, the Jacktown Ride and Hunt Club, the Norwin Chamber of Commerce, and was an Eagle Scout. He was a member of the Norwin Rotary Club, where he was a Paul Harris Fellow and had over fifty years of perfect attendance. Russell was a veteran of the US Army and a member of the American Legion. He is survived by his sisters, Helen (the late Robert) Hopkinson and Alyce (the late Thomas Sr.) Markovich both of Irwin and Fred (Karen) McCullough of Crystal Lake, IL; his sisters and brother-in-law, Janice 'Sis' (the late Bill) Chervenick, Kathy (Joe) Vonderkall, Bill (Kim) Whalen, and Susan (Dana) Lewis all of North Huntingdon; and also many nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and nephews. He was a wonderful person, loved by many, and will be greatly missed. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, at the WILLIAM SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 521 Main St., Irwin. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 18, in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 502 Main St., Irwin, with Pastor Sarah Lee-Faulkner officiating.
