LaRue (Germy) Painter, 71, of North Huntingdon, passed away surrounded by family on Thursday, May 9, 2024. She was born Feb. 22, 1953, in North Irwin, a daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Copeland) Germy, and was also preceded in death by her husband, Calvin C. Painter. LaRue was a lifelong children's Sunday school teacher at Norwin Alliance Church, sang in the choir, and was known for her beautiful soprano singing voice. She enjoyed gardening, working in the yard, crocheting, and reading. Throughout her life, she was very helpful to others; she was a caregiver for her grandchildren and would always lend a helping hand to anyone in need. LaRue is survived by her children, Bria (Kevin) Craycraft of North Huntingdon; and Lindy (Brian) Charney of North Huntingdon; grandchildren, Shaylin Craycraft, Keilah Craycraft, Teya Craycraft, Jaden Charney, and Luke Charney; brothers and sisters, Joseph (Lou) Germy, William (Angie) Germy, Karen (Jeff) Phillips, and Denise (Bill) Bray; also numerous nieces and nephews. Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 16, 2024, at the WILLIAM SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 521 Main Street, Irwin, PA 724-863-1200. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 17, 2024, in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Irwin Union Cemetery.
