Man shot in eye along Parkway West

A suspected road rage incident on the Parkway West on Sunday evening resulted in a man being shot in the eye, Pittsburgh police said.

Just before 7 p.m., police were dispatched to the area of Exit 69A of Interstate 376 after receiving reports of rifle rounds fired into a vehicle from a passing vehicle.

Police said a 60-year-old man was found in a vehicle with a gunshot wound to his eye. He was transported to the hospital by medics in critical condition for surgery.

Police said the suspect vehicle is a White Mazda SUV that fled the scene and continued westbound toward either Banksville Road or onto I-376.

Police are speaking to witnesses and trying to secure any available video of the incident. Detectives from Major Crimes and the Crime Scene Unit are investigating.


4-year-old hit by vehicle in Crafton Heights

A 4-year-old boy was rushed to the hospital by family members after being struck by a vehicle Sunday night in Crafton Heights.

Police reported to the 900 block of Woodlow Street after dispatch received a panicked call from a man. Police said the man was screaming that they needed an ambulance, but did not give a reason why.

At the scene, first responders learned that the 4-year-old boy had run out of the car he was sitting in and was struck by it.

Police said the boy arrived at the hospital in “grave condition” and was transferred to Children’s Hospital.

The city’s Collision Investigation Unit is working the incident.
