It’s been a hot week! Whether indoor or outdoor events are your jam, something is going on this weekend that will keep you comfortable — and be fun, too. Here are five things to do around town.

Pogopalooza

From Friday to Sunday, pogo stick enthusiasts will be competing in a number of events in the city. Friday at 5 p.m., there will be a high jump competition in Market Square. Then, on Saturday at 3 p.m., competitors will participate in the freestyle qualifiers and tech finals at the XPOGO HQ in Wilkinsburg. 3 p.m. Sunday will bring a Best Trick competition, freestyle finals and a “bounce-off” for those age 15 and under, also all at XPOGO HQ.

Spectating is free and open to the public. Pogo athletes and those wishing to volunteer for the event can register online. Participants can even try for a world record.

Four Chords Music Festival

Saturday and Sunday, the Carrie Furnace will be rocked by the Four Chords Music Festival. Saturday’s headliner is rock band A Day To Remember, and Sunday’s big act is the All American Rejects, who had several hit songs in the 2000s. That’s in addition to a whole slate of rock bands throughout the weekend.

One-day, two-day and VIP passes are available for purchase, as well as parking. Parking space at the venue is limited, but shuttles are being offered. To see the full lineup and get tickets, visit fourchordmusicfestival.com.

Pittsburgh TattooMania

For lovers of body art, Pittsburgh TattooMania will be going on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center.

More than 200 artists will be present at booths, selling merch, performing on-the-spot tattoos and more. There will be a bevy of contests throughout the weekend — including Worst Tattoo — for a wide range of different tattoo sizes and art styles.

There will also be wrestling by Enjoy Wrestling during the convention.

Convention hours will be Friday from noon to 10 p.m.; Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.; and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Single-day and full weekend passes can be purchased at pittsburghtattoofestival.com.

Let’s Groove Tonight with Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra

A perfect summer soundtrack comes to life this weekend with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra’s program “Let’s Groove Tonight: Motown & the Philly Sound.” With three powerhouse vocalists accompanying the symphony orchestra, it’ll be an unforgettable experience for lovers of soul, R&B and classic pop music.

In three performances — 8 p.m. Friday, 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday — Heinz Hall will be filled with the songs of the Temptations, Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross and many more.

With all local vendors, this is one of Pittsburgh’s biggest plant events. The event will be held from 12:30 to 5 p.m. in The Hall at Spirit. It will feature plant shops, propagators, artists and collectors.

The event is 21 and tickets can be purchased at spiritpgh.com.
