Nicole "Nikki" Christine (Mazzoni) Bortz, 58, of Greensburg, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2024, at Independence Health System - Westmoreland Hospital. She was born Sept. 6, 1966, in Greensburg to Josephine E. (Kuchta) Mazzoni and the late Anthony M. Mazzoni. Nikki was employed for many years as a custodial engineer for Westmoreland County Juvenile Detention. She grew up attending St. James Church, New Alexandria. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Arthur Bortz; a nephew, Arthur Raymond Bortz; and a great-nephew Ernie. In addition to her mother, Nikki is survived by her husband of 38 years, Scott A. Bortz; a sister Lori Hayden (Scott); and their children, Jacob Hayden (Laura), Riley Hayden (Courtney) and Marli Hayden (Bob); two great-nieces Ava and Josephine; a sister-in-law, Debbie McCleary; and her children, Ernie McCleary (Sam) and Brian McCleary (Fallon); and a niece, Josie Bortz (Cory); and six great-nieces and nephews, Shane, Lilly, Katelynn, Dean, Bree, and Conner. Nikki enjoyed life with a smile on her face and Converse on her feet. She could be found cruising around town in her Mustang, basking in the sun on an annual vacation to Myrtle Beach, or enjoying time at home with her husband and cats. Always the spitfire, holidays will not be the same without her quick wit, colorful storytelling, and infectious laughter.
