Joseph A. Spana, 93, of Lower Burrell passed away peacefully on May 7, 2024, at Harmar Village. He was the son of the late Enrico and Louise (Brusco) Spano. Besides his parents, Joseph was also preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Sarah Jane (Penvose) Spana, his brothers, Henry, Louis and David Spana and a sister, Mary Mielecki. Joseph was an electronics repairman with Allegheny Ludlum and retired with over 40 years of service. Joseph was a member of Mt. St. Peter R.C. Church, a member of the church choir, a cantor for the church and also the Holy Name Society. He volunteered with the Food Bank, Trash & Treasure, Italian Festa, and helped the church throughout the years with various maintenance projects. He enjoyed cruising around the world and being a Ham Radio operator. He also enjoyed repairing electronics, woodworking, building furniture, and making his own wine. But most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. Surviving him are his children, Patrice (Ron) Majeran of Vandergrift, Joseph (Elaine) Spana of IL, Christina (Neal) Benson of Pittsburgh, Richard (Emily) Spana of FL, and Eric (Dauna) Spana of NC. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, his sisters Gina Spana of Lower Burrell and Anna Boyd of Washington Township, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins both in the USA and Italy. Friends will be received on Friday from 1:30 p.m. until the time of Prayers of Transfer, 2:30 p.m. in the Giunta-Bertucci Funeral Home, 1509 Fifth Avenue, Arnold, JohnPaul Bertucci, owner/supervisor.
