Stage Right! School for the Performing Arts will host a full day of fall fun at their second annual Harvest Fest fundraiser, Saturday, October 21 from noon to 7 p.m. at the Greensburg Garden and Civic Center located on 951 Old Salem Road, Greensburg. Harvest Fest is a family-friendly indoor/outdoor event featuring fall-themed activities for kids and adults, beer tastings, Oktoberfest-inspired foods, and live music all day long. “Our Harvest Fest sums up everything that Stage Right represents. Our focus on community, partnerships, families and supporting local artists and vendors,” said Stage Right Executive Director Christopher McAllister. Continuous live outdoor performances by local artists and Stage Right! students will keep attendees entertained with popular hits and original music in a variety of genres. The headliner, Essential Machine, closes out the event at 5:40 p.m.. Essential Machine is an indie rock trio from Pittsburgh composed of RJ Dietrich (lead vocals/guitar), Karen Dietrich (drums), and their son Robert Dietrich (keys/bass synth/vocals). Their latest EP, Exponential Crisis, charted on the NACC Top 200 in March 2022. The band is currently working on their next record and booking a coast to coast tour for Spring 2024. Other performers that day include: Allison Borek, Miss Freddye, Jeff Perigo and members of the non-profit organization Band Together Pittsburgh. “The entertainment at the festival will be provided by local artists with notable recognition. They are entertainers that I’ve personally heard at other festivals and am proud to book for our Harvest Fest. The real feature will be our students and their classes. They will perform in between the professional stage acts and show just exactly what our students learn and take classes in at Stage Right,” McAllister said. Stage Right! will have Oktoberfest-inspired foods for purchase with options suitable for the entire family. There will also be games and fall activities for kids of all ages. “The planning committee wanted to make sure we kept this event family friendly, so we focused on activities for everyone in the family. We have a kids area sponsored by Latrobe 30 Theatre and Cafe where we will have a scavenger hunt, coloring, and pumpkin painting. We’ll also have a dime toss and corn hole for all ages,” said Co-Chairperson Doug Estok. Attendees looking for a more challenging activity can enter a stein-holding contest and compete in our new Carved Pumpkin Contest. “We will have over $3,000 in raffles and silent auctions including club level seats to a Pitt game, champion club seats to a Stealer Game and even a foursome at Edgewood Country Club. There will also be other prizes awarded for some fun contests,” said Harvest Fest Co-Chairperson Linda Harkcom. Adults and children of all ages are encouraged to exercise their artistic talents by carving a pumpkin and bring it to the event. It is free to enter the with a paid admission. The first 30 pumpkins to arrive will be accepted. Attendees will vote on the pumpkin they like the best by placing money in the container for that pumpkin. The pumpkin with the most money in its jar at the end of the event will be the winner. The prize is a pair of tickets to a Pittsburgh Steelers game. “Anyone who comes to the event can vote on the pumpkins as much as they want. People can even vote for their own. If a grandfather wants to drop $200 in his grandson’s jar in order to try to win the tickets to take him to a game, I’m all for that. The money goes to a great cause, arts education for our area children,”Harkcom said. There will also be a variety of over 25 vendors on site selling crafts snacks and other items.
