Arnold& Sons, Inc. PLUMBING EXCAVATING HARDWARE IT ALL STARTED WITH A BACKHOE. In 1966 Leonard L. Arnold bought a used Ford backhoe. At the time, he was employed at PPG Industries. Soon after, he decided to take an early retirement. He enjoyed operating hi backhoe and began installing water lines. His oldest son, Douglas L. Arnold, was 14 at the time and quickly became an expert on that piece of equipment. He decided he could make a living at it and when he graduated from high school he went to plumbing school and became a registered master plumber. Soon after his brother, Gregory J. Arnold, graduated from high school and became a registered master plumber as well. The business was run out of Leonard and Anna Beth's home and Anna Beth, a registered nurse, would take care of the accounting. Thus, the family business was born. The business began to grow and in 1984 they purchased Edmond's Hardware. With the purchase of the hardware store, they were able to acquire plumbing items at a wholesale price instead of retail. Therefore, they were able to offer their customers the best price possible Both Doug and Greg had sons that were interested in the trade and became registered master plumbers. To date, the company has four registered master plumbers, one journeyman plumber, and two employees currently in plumbing school. One of the employees in plumbing school is Douglas L. Arnold's grandson, Grant Arnold. Grant was a natural at operating big equipment since he was 12 years old. His dream was to become a plumber and he is in the process of making that dream come true. The Arnold family is grateful to have an amazing crew that works in the plumbing department and in the hardware store. Over the years they have become family. Also, they are so thankful for their customers who have patronized their business. What started with a man and a backhoe has become a successful plumbing business and a fully stocked hardware store. The plumbing business performs residential and commercial plumbing, and it specializes in pipe lining. The hardware store sell all the top brands including Ex-Mark, Gravely, and Stihl. They can service all equipment purchased at their store. They are so glad to serve this community and hope to continue into the fourth generation.
