The Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County is a provider of safe, reliable, and affordable drinking water. The Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County is made up of acquired potable water and wastewater systems that have been integrated through careful planning over decades. The MAWC wastewater system serves Jeannette City, Hempfield, East Huntingdon, Sewickley, and Upper Tyrone townships and the Boroughs of Avonmore, Ligonier, Mt. Pleasant, Penn, White Oak, and Youngwood, along with parts of the City of Greensburg, North Huntingdon, and Unity townships. With the acquisition of Westmoreland Fayette Municipal Sewage Authority, MAWC’s wastewater service area will now also include Scottdale and Everson boroughs, and the combined area will be served by 11 wastewater treatment plants.
