Tropical Storm Debby has the upper hand at the Little League Softball World Series.
Constant rain left teams sitting on their hands with no games to play for a second straight day in Greenville, N.C.
That includes West Point 12U, which has gone 1-1 so far as it tries to fight its way through the loser’s bracket.
“We were up at 4:30 (a.m.) with tornado warnings in the halls,” West Point coach Tina Madison said. “Then again at 8:30.
“The girls are riding it out.”
West Point still is awaiting its next opponent, as well at the time and day of its next game. The team gets the winner of Arizona and the Philippines.
The LLSWS ends Sunday.
West Point lost to Arizona, 2-1, in the opener last Sunday, then edged Italy, 2-1, on Wednesday.
There is a managers’ meeting at 5:30 pm. Thursday, Madison said, which should iron out some details and a course of action.
She said in cases like this in travel softball, teams in the loser’s bracket would likely get sent home.
“With Little League, I don’t know,” she said.
In the meantime, the team is trying to pass the time, indoors. They were going to the movies this afternoon to see “Despicable Me 4.”
