BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. - Butte College football improved to 4-0 after defeating Modesto Junior College 34-14 this past Saturday. This was an anticipated matchup as the Roadrunners and Pirates were 3-0 coming into the game. Coming into their matchup, the Pirates were averaging over 39 points per game. However, the Roadrunners’ defense came to play as they held the Pirates to just 14 points. By halftime, the Roadrunners had a 34-7 lead. Roadrunner quarterback Marcus Beamon threw all of his five touchdowns in the first half. "It's been awesome to watch the team; today was fantastic, and the office has been rolling. There were some great passes for touchdowns. And this last stand, I'm so proud of this team. I'm just really delighted that the Butte College football team is on a roll and they're winning,” Linda Zorn said. After the final whistle blew, the Roadrunners came out on top 34-14. Beamon finished the game with 268 passing yards and five touchdown passes. Running back Takeshi Faupula rushed for 109 yards. And Beamon’s favorite target on the day was wide receiver Brandon Smith, who had 146 receiving yards and three touchdowns. This victory showcases the Roadrunners' ability to win on multiple levels, showcasing their offense and defensive dominance.
